The New St. Benedict Children’s Home

The children are settled in the new home – unit 1 – boys and girls.

The purchase of the land was done with funds given by Mr. John Henderson, R.I.P.

Thirteen (13) children at present are residing in the home.

Security Walls

Thanks to all donors who have contributed to the erection of our security walls. This enables the children to feel safer within their environment. There is a last portion to be done. Any contribution will be most welcomed.

Playground

Play ground development, “St. Benedict Park” as it is called. ‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”. We have been fortunate to get assistance from donors such as Rotary Club of Steveston, Canada, Trinity School of Medicine, St. Vincent, The Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, volunteers from Blessed Sacrament Kearney, Nebraska who sponsored and did some painting of the equipment, Courts, St. Vincent who also sponsored and did some painting of some of the equipments.

OUR ONE PARTICIPANT TO SPECIAL OLYMPICS MAKES GOOD USE OF THE PARK FOR HER TRAINING IN ATHLETICS FOR THE GAMES OF SPECIAL OLYMPICS IN LOS-ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – JULY 25TH – AUGUST 2ND 2015.

It is the plan to erect another unit – for the children are increasing more and more – funds to be sourced. With two (2) units there can be a proper division of boys and girls. (The accommodation of boys and girls in one unit can be critical).

St. Benedict Day Nursery

The number of children attending our Day Nursery facility has increased to approximately Fifty (50) children. We continue to use the old building but there is an urgent need for a new building.

Although the plans have been already approved by the Government of St. Vincent, there are no funds towards this mammoth project.

In the meantime, from a meeting with the Board of Management with Bishop Jason Gordon; Bishop of the Diocese of Kingstown/Bridgetown, it was agreed that the Day Nursery should be constructed on the site of the new home instead of on its present location. This will enable the Corpus Christi Carmelites to manage the Institution better, as both facilities with be on one site.

As ever, St. Benedict’s depend on your good will and generosity for the successful completion of this mammoth project in the name of the children.
